Would you like to take control of your health and put the spring back in your step?
Do you struggle with diet and exercise?
You’re not alone.
But increasing fatigue, weight gain and stiffness aren’t inevitable as you travel toward middle age and beyond.
You need a new approach to diet and fitness you can stick with. An approach that puts your health first – and doesn’t demand all of your time.
This website is for you.
Good nutrition, proper movement and strength training improve and help maintain your long-term health. Yes, “cardio” is important. But you can get all the cardio you need for good health from your everyday activities. Your life is busy and your time is limited. Focus on nutrition, movement and strength and take control of your health.
Hi, I’m Ralph.
I started Movement and Nutrition to help busy people stay healthy and strong. So they can lead the active lives they want to – for as long as they want to.
And I have a unique background to help you achieve a lifelong and healthy approach to diet and exercise. I’ll give you the tools, motivation and accountability – without taking over your life.
So, if you’ve got time, here is my background.
I am a nutritionist with a bachelor’s (honours 1st class) degree in nutrition from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. And I’m a registered with the Association for Nutrition (the independent regulator for Registered Nutritionists). I have the academic knowledge to give you evidence-based nutritional advice. The knowledge to help you make healthy food choices based on science.
With my help, you can make the healthy choice the delicious choice. During over 20 years working as a professional chef, I’ve taught countless complete novices and experienced cooks how to prepare delicious food. And how to keep it quick and simple.
And I have the exercise coaching experience to help you improve your fitness.
In 2007 I started training with kettlebells. I certified as a StrongFirst instructor in 2015, and have been teaching kettlebells ever since. Why StrongFirst? Because StrongFirst sets the standard for Hardstyle kettlebell instructor certification.
And as a 3rd-degree black belt, I taught Taekwondo for over 10 years.
Hardstyle kettlebell training and Taekwondo emphasise mobility and good movement. Without maintenance, your mobility and movement quality declines, reducing your quality of life as you age. I certified with Functional Movement Systems in 2016. The Functional Movement Systems concept is simple “Move well. Move often”.
How can I help you?
It’s tough fitting exercise and healthy eating around your family and career. I understand that. The long anti-social hours in the hospitality industry made it difficult for me too. And it hasn’t got any easier.
I also understand you want to take control of your health and fitness. You want to eat healthily and find an effective training plan to fit your busy life. And you want to stick with it for the long-term.
I can help.
- Low maintenance healthy eating – how to choose the most nutritious foods and how to cook simple, delicious and healthy food.
- Time efficient strength and mobility improvement to prepare you for the physical challenges life throws at you
Expect a down-to-earth and straightforward approach. Honesty and clarity are my thing; not sugar coating.
- We’ll start with where you are now.
- Then we’ll agree on a plan that works for you.
- I’ll teach you the tools you’ll need to succeed.
- And I’ll hold you accountable.
